KOSEKO DESIGN&PRESS
Tomoyuki Koseko
Artist / Graphic Designer
Yafa Koseko
Graphic Designer / Illustrator
設計師・插畫師。2021 年正式加入小瀬古文庫。負責設計和繪製小瀬古文庫作品系列中的包裝和插畫。擅長結合設計概念繪製和設計相輔相承的插畫作品。 KOSEKO DESIGN & PRESS is a team formed by Tomoyuki Koseko and Yafa Koseko, based in Kyoto, Japan. Their activities center around design research experiments with the theme of "perception and design." Their series of experimental visual design works are regularly presented through exhibitions and art book publications.
Tomoyuki Koseko
Artist / Graphic Designer
Specializing in visual communication design, he explores experimental expressions related to perception and cognition, posing new questions for thought. Through digital printing technology, he also engages in art book publishing, seeking to pioneer new forms of publication.
Visual perception and the concept of 'Mitate' (seeing one thing as another) are Koseko’s primary areas of research. He aims to invent new ways of perceiving the world through the lens of design as a practical art form.
Yafa Koseko
Graphic Designer / Illustrator
A designer and illustrator, Yafa Koseko officially joined Koseko Bunko in 2021. She is responsible for the design and illustration of works in the Koseko Bunko series, including packaging and artwork. She specializes in creating illustrations that complement and enhance design concepts.

Description |
This event showcases the research outcomes of Japanese artist Tomoyuki Koseko during his residency at SurfySpace (浪花藝術空間). It features an open studio with small exhibition, and artist talk. Based in Kyoto, Koseko works as an artist and also collaborates with his wife, Yafa Koseko, as the design duo KOSEKO DESIGN&PRESS.
During his residency program, he explored the unique possibilities of trans-perception in the Yilan region through fieldwork along the northern coast, where distinctive geological features can be observed.
Trans-perception project |
Koseko investigates trans-perception—new modes of perception and awareness shaped by technology—through experimental expressions. For instance, when a map image is transformed into red, it may resemble raw meat, while rivers and lakes take on the appearance of fat. Through computational color transformation, previously unseen visual interpretations can emerge.
He defines this expansion of visual perception, driven by the serendipitous effects of graphic technology, as "trans-perception (擬態)" and explores new perspectives through printmaking and exhibitions.
